Carly’s Summer Sipper

I found a recipe for homemade thyme simple syrup and I really wanted to create a cocktail that could make good use of it. Lo’ and behold – Carly’s Summer Sipper was born. This sweet and tart cocktail is perfect for a day at the pool or just reading a great book outside. Our good friend Carly is the drink’s namesake because either one of those scenarios describes her perfect summer day!

A simple combination of Crown Royal Maple, Turkey Hill All Natural Lemonade, and thyme simple syrup make this beverage both easy and refreshing!

Ingredients (Makes 1 Sipper!):

2 oz. Crown Royal Maple
12 oz Turkey Hill Lemonade
2 tbs thyme simple syrup
1 tsp fresh lemon juice
ice

First, I made thyme simple syrup following the William Sonoma recipe I came across here. You boil two cups of water – add a cup of sugar and two sprigs of thyme and reduce about half. Let cool completely before using in a beverage.

Add ice to a glass and pour the Crown Royal, then the lemon juice and simple syrup, then the lemonade.

Mix lightly and garnish with lemon rind and thyme sprigs.

Easy to enjoy on a warm summer day or a cool, breezy evening.
