Maryland Crab Dip

Being born and raised just outside of Baltimore, Maryland – crab dip is one of our favorites. There are actually a few different ways that I like to make it – this one being the fastest and most crowd-pleasing. And while our West coast friends might disagree, the foundation of an amazing crab dip are these key ingredients: OLD BAY seasoning, and Jumbo Lump crab meat from Chesapeake Blue Crabs. No other crabmeat will suffice, period.

Ingredients:

8 oz cream cheese, room temperature
1 cup Hellmann’s Mayonnaise
2 tbsp Old Bay seasoning, plus more to garnish
1/2 tsp ground mustard
1 lb jumbo lump crab meat
1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

*I always make sure to pick through any crab meat for shells – in my opinion, this makes a noticeable difference in the final product!

Mix together cream cheese, mayonnaise, old bay, and ground mustard. Stir until well combined.

Then, gently fold in the crab meat, tossing lightly to mix.

Spread the mixture in a medium sized baking dish and top with cheddar cheese.

Bake for 15-20 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly. Sprinkle with Old Bay seasoning.

Serve with toasted tips, crackers, tortilla chips…

or my personal favorite – FRITO’s brand corn chips!
